Ways to Cut Back on Water Your Water Bills

sunny-plumbersJust because you want to save some money doesn’t mean you’re cheap! These days, our dollars just don’t always seem to stretch as far as they once did. Of course, there are pretty simple ways that you can cut back on certain expenditures. Brewing your coffee at home, for instance, or bringing your lunch to the office rather than eating out regularly. There are other areas where you really don’t want to compromise, though, like running your AC in hot weather.

Using water in your home is another area where you aren’t really going to be cutting back on costs, right? It’s not like you can just stop doing the dishes and washing your clothes! We definitely would not advocate for anything as extreme as that, but the fact is that there are plenty of ways in which you can easily go about cutting back on your water bills. Sometimes all it takes is a few tips from your Sunny Plumber in Corona!

Be Fair to Your Faucets!

If you’re not using your faucets in a conscientious manner, you cannot expect them to do you any favors in return. What do we mean by this? Well, if you leave your faucet running, and that results in wasted water, and that results in excessive water costs, the faucet is not really to blame there, is it? You’ve probably got a few bad habits to break, and some to develop, in this regard.

Don’t leave your faucet running when you are brushing your teeth, or in between the rinsing of dishes. Is it a little less convenient to turn the faucet on and off every time you swap out a dish? Sure. But even this pretty minor change in practice will start to save you water, and that will save you cost.

Stop Ignoring Leaks (and Stop Justifying Doing So!)

Well, it’s just a little drip from the bathtub fixture. It’s not doing any damage. I don’t want to pay to have a plumber come out for such a minor problem. Ah, yes, the old “I don’t want to waste money on a minor repair” excuse. We cannot make this any more explicit. The cost of having these “minor” problems fixed promptly will pale in comparison to the money that you’ll save by eliminating those “minor” leaks or running toilet issues.

Just because your leak isn’t resulting in flooding, and just because your leak is not dripping down onto a wooden surface and doing serious damage, does not mean that you can afford to ignore those leaks. Get a plumber out to your home, have the problem resolved, and start enjoying the savings that eliminating water waste allows for.

Make Some Investments!

No, we’re not going to give you any tips for playing the stock market. We can tell you that spending some money on your plumbing system and fixtures can pay off in the long run, though.

A good dishwasher doesn’t only make your life more convenient, for instance. It will also save water by using it more efficiently than hand washing will. Installing aerating faucets in your home will allow you to use water normally, but will add air into the mix so that you are actually using less water. Let us know if you’re interested in innovative ways to save water, without cutting convenience and performance, in your home.
